This page is dedicated to the items in the nursery! We get a lot of questions via
email on how to use sleep sacks, or when a comforter can be used as a wall
hanging. The items products as well.

Art Work - Wall/Shelf Accessory. We carry different types of art work. Our main line of
art work is through Kimberly Grant. As with all pictures, keep out of reach of baby. The
art work we carry is light weight and all are approximately 10" x 10".
Basket Liner - Nursery accessory to accent and line a nursery basket (usually wicker
basket). Will fit any standard sized nursery/bathroom basket.
Blankets - We carry many different types of blankets. From Chenille to velvet to
Sherpa to cotton. As with all blankets, make certain not to leave any loose bedding in
with baby when they are sleeping (Please see Safety page article on SIDS). A sleep
sack is the best way to make sure baby does not get cold at night when sleeping or
during the day for naps. If you do not want a sleep sack or have not purchased one,
Here are instructions to swaddle baby:
1. Blanket should be at least 20" x 30" to swaddle (larger is better, but not comforter
size)
2. Lay the blanket out and press out any wrinkles with your hand
3. Place baby's head about five inches down from any corner of the blanket.
4. Take the corner at baby's feet and fold it up onto baby's belly /legs
5. Take the left side corner of the blanket and wrap it around baby's right side, lift
baby's right side up just a bit to tuck that corner under them. Lay baby back down and
repeat with the right side.
6. Make sure it is tight and place baby on their back to sleep/nap.
If they are 4 months or younger they will sleep very soundly like this. 5 months and
older they usually do not want to be restricted, but every little angel is different.
Bumper Padding - Protect baby from getting limbs caught in crib slats/spindles.
Bumper pads will vary from set to set. Check to make sure the strings / ties are not
loose or broken at least every two weeks. Also there may sometimes be tags on the
bumper padding. We suggest to trim the tags down so they are not a choking hazard.
Dry cleaning is the best way to thoroughly clean bumper pads. Spot cleaning for small
messes also works well. Bumper pads are usually part of a four or five piece set and
rarely need to be purchased separately. Bumper pads are usually in use from birth to
18 months or when baby moves into toddler bed stage.
Changing Pad Cover - Covers and decorates the changing pad. The changing pad is
usually vinyl and will be uncomfortable for baby and if an accident happens, a cover
protects a larger mess from happening. The covers also make the changing tables look
a better part of the nursery. And the covers are for the contoured changing pads. All
the covers are machine washable and are highly suggested.
Comforter - The Comforter is the largest piece and the centerpiece of a crib set. This
is actually rarely used to cover baby. We suggest you use a sleep sack or swaddle
blanket to cover baby while she is sleeping. The comforter also always doubles as a
wall hanging.
Crib Skirt - This is the item that goes in between the mattress and the mattress support
(springs or wood). The dust ruffle will range from 8-16 inch drop. A larger dust ruffle is
great for early childhood, however we suggest 12-14 inch drop dust ruffle so it may also
be used when your child uses the bedding as a toddler.
(also see dust ruffle)
Diaper Stacker - A Diaper stacker will hold between 50 (large size) and 100 (small)
diapers. It is a completely optional accessory, not really needed especially if you have a
changing table where you can store the diapers. When designing, we usually choose
baskets and basket liners instead of diaper stackers. However a diaper stacker does
make a nursery look more completed.
Dust Ruffle - A dust ruffle (crib skirt) is used to keep the dust out from under the bed.
It also serves as a finishing touch to the look of a bed. They also are great to hide
anything stored under the crib such as strollers, or pack n plays. We suggest a dust
ruffle for every crib/toddler bed.
Duvet - This is a quilt with a washable cover used in lieu of a bedspread and top sheet.
Cotton Tale Designs carries Duvet's
Growth Chart - A growth chart is usually fabric or canvas and will go to either 5 foot or
5 feet 5 inches. They are all completely writable and most are washable. We suggest a
growth chart not just to make the nursery look better, but for keepsake as well.
Lamp Shade - The lamp shade is sold severalty from the lamp base, unless the title
says lamp with shade or lamp shade with base. The lamp shade will fit any standard
size light bulb and any standard size lamp base.
Large Pillow - The pillows are usually sold in a pillow pack (pack of 2 or 3 pillows). The
large pillows (or also called dimensional pillows) are naturally coordinated with the set it
is being sold with. The large pillows will be much larger than the decorative pillows.
Monitor - Movement - The movement monitor with sensor is made by BeBe Sounds /
Unisar. This item detects movement made by baby, and if no movement is detected
within 20 seconds a loud alarm sounds to let you know. There are many features to this
item, and the main reason for getting this item is for SIDS awareness. This item works
well and is Highly suggested by us. This items description is more complete on the
BeBeSounds page
Monitor - Sound - These monitors will only let you hear in the nursery. The bebe
sounds page contains some of these types of monitors. Every nursery should have
some type of monitor.
Monitor - Video - The best observation monitor (hearing /seeing) that we carry. This
item allows you to take a portable LCD screen display with you and look in on your child
whenever and wherever you please. This item is suggested and very convenient.
Musical Mobile - A musical mobile is made for the visual and auditory stimulation of
baby 0-6 months. All musical mobiles should be placed at baby's feet, not at the head
of the crib, as many pictures show. This item must be out of baby's reach at all times
due to the strings that hold the characters. Musical mobiles should be removed when
the child can reach the mobile or at 6 months. We suggest a musical mobile just for the
learning experience that it will provide baby.
Pictures - All of our pictures that we sell for baby's room are of very high quality and
either fabric or canvas. Keep all pictures out of reach of children. Pictures serve as a
decorating tool for the nursery, we do suggest pictures only so the nursery will not look
bare. Even 1 or 2 pictures make the nursery look a lot better.
Pillow - The decorative pillow is right at about 12 x 12" and compliments the crib, shelf
or nightstand. This item is completely for the look and feel of the nursery.
Quilt - The quilt is used as a wall hanging usually. (see also comforter) All quilts are
machine washable, however we strongly suggest dry cleaning to preserve the piece.
Rug - The rugs we carry are very large, and serve not only for looks but also to warm
baby's feet or knees if you have wood flooring. The rugs are large enough for baby to
play on. All the rugs we carry are of very high quality. The can be washed and
vacuumed.
Sheet - Serves as a protective covering for the mattress and serves to protect baby's
skin from the mattress. All of the sheets we carry fit standard sized mattresses. When
choosing a sheet, make sure it fits tightly around the mattress. Waves and wrinkles are
considered a danger for baby. The baby can use the slack of the fabric and get the
sheet off of the mattress and roll up in it.
Sleep Sacks - Sleep sacks are Highly suggested by us. Use sleep sacks anytime baby
is sleeping - nap or night time. The sleep sacks are part of SIDS awareness. The
cannot cover baby's nose or mouth and will keep baby warm.
Toy Bag - A toy bag is a wonderful invention because you can tie it up high so you
choose what baby can play with. The helps eliminate messy rooms and it looks
wonderful. The toy bags we carry are made with heavy fabric and can be displayed with
ease. They are also very affordable, being much cheaper than a toy box and holding
just about the same amount of items.
Wall Border - The wall border is wall paper that is prepasted. It ranges in size (see
item descriptions) and can be placed anywhere. We suggest placement to be mid-wall
(chair rail) and on top of the wall and around doors and windows for the complete look.
We do suggest wall border.
